About me

I love working with colour and textiles.

Originally trained as a knitwear designer after I left college I spent many years creating original hand knitted garments and fabric designs. At first I created garments which were sold at my own retail outlet in Nottingham after several requests I started to supply other retailers in the UK and later in the USA. In 1986 I closed my retail outlet and went to work in industry first working for Courtaulds then later working as a freelance designer my clients included several M&S suppliers and UK spinners. I started to develop a range of fabrics that were sold by agents both in the UK and overseas, predominantly in the American market. As my skills developed I was able too include my love of embroidery and my work developed further to include embroidery on knitted fabrics and then onto woven fabrics

 

More recently I have continued to develop my skills and now work as a textile designer and artist, occasionally exhibiting my work.  My work is created by first dyeing fabrics and threads and then working on some colour exercises before creating my final piece.  Sometimes my work reflects a particular issue either in my life or in the world at large.

Much of my work is for sale prices range from £30 for small colour swatches such as Reds and Purples 1to £600 for large framed pieces such as Disappearing into Dementia
